Why is the flag/emblem of … not included?

I can only include flags and emblems that are listed under licenses that require no attribution (i.e. the ones that are in the Public Domain) on Wikipedia. Since that does not apply to all flags and emblems, the ones that require attribution are not included. Out of the flags of countries that exist currently, none requires attribution, which means that nothing is missing in the “Countries” category. Click here for more information on licenses.

About the countries with limited recognition:

“Limited recognition” means that a country is not recognized by all other countries, therefore making its recognition by the international community limited. This means that technically even countries like China, South Korea or Cyprus could be considered as having limited recognition (For more information, click here). The criteria for listing countries under the limited recognition category was whether they are recognized by the majority of UN member states. This labeling does not necessarily reflect my personal political views on these matters; it is solely intended to offer a rule to go by when making a decision about such complex and multi- faceted issues.

About flags with extremist/radical symbols and meanings:

Some flags include symbols of extremist or radical ideologies and movements (like the Hammer and Sickle on the flag of Transnistria) or are in themselves a symbol of such (like the old flag of South Africa). I expressly distance myself from any of these ideologies and their followers. The game only shows flags and people have to guess what country they belong to, nothing more and nothing less. It is only intended to educate people about flags and entertain them and does not follow any political agenda.

Please note that the use and/or public display of communist symbols is subject to legal restrictions in many countries. I created the game and its content in full compliance with the laws of my home country, Germany, and you are fully responsible to use the game in a way that does not break the laws of your country. Click here for more information on these laws.

    How to play

The game is really simple. First, you need to select a game mode. To do this, just click on one of the three category buttons on this page and select a game mode. Before the game starts, you can select the amount of flags you want to play with and decide whether to include dependencies and/or states with limited recognition. After the game starts, you will be shown one flag at a time and 4 options to chose from (see image above). In the top left corner, there is an "info" button where you can get some information on the game mode and its flags. In the top right corner, you will find a button allowing you to end the game early and return to the main menu. At the bottom of the game screen there may be an attribution link for the currently displayed flag (depending on whther it reequires attribution). For legal reasons, some files have to be attributed. Clicking on this link will lead to the original file on Wikimedia Commons. Obviously, this can be abused to cheat so if you do click one of these links, a message will be displayed on the finish screen. When there are no flags left, the game ends and you can either play again or come back here to the main menu to select another game mode. Watch out to not refresh the page while playing as this will restart the game and reset your progress!
